Welcome to Wabi Sabi Creations

Wabi Sabi Creations opened in 2021. Located in the heart of Nambour, Wabi Sabi sells hand-crafted pieces made with Love by many of the people with disabilities who attend one of our  Compass Campuses.

This store was born out of a vision to do two things. The first is to showcase to the world the incredible talents that people with disabilities have. In addition to our core learning and development curricula, each of the Compass Campuses offers creative programs that encourage our Trainees to explore and express their unique talents.

Wabi Sabi offers a fit-for-purpose outlet where these unique and beautiful pieces can be showcased and sold to the public, with all proceeds going back into Compass to further support our programs. People are constantly blown away by the beauty of the products that are created – from jewellery to pottery, chopping boards, hampers, paintings, ceramics and more!

Four colourful ceramic mugs from Wabi Sabi Creations with hand-painted floral and polka dot designs sit on a wooden table. Each mug has a unique pattern and bright colours, with tags attached to the handles.

Meaningful vocational opportunities

The second vision is to offer meaningful vocational opportunities for people with disabilities looking for real-world retail and customer service experience.

Wabi Sabi creations offers traineeships for people with disabilities in a supported environment, covering all essential retail skills from store set-up, to pricing, tagging, stock take, point of sale and customer services skills. For our Trainees, the opportunity to learn these skills and serve the community is a dream come true.

We hope to see you in our store soon!

What does Wabi Sabi mean?

Wabi Sabi (‘wahbee – sahbee’) is a Japanese concept that encourages us to find beauty in imperfection.

It is a beautiful way to describe what is natural and pure and to acknowledge the exquisite nature of any substance or being in its most natural, raw and inherently imperfect form.
It is via this essence that our products have been brought to life.

Wabi Sabi provides a wonderful opportunity for the people of Compass to learn to work both with and for you… we thank you for your generous support!
